Why don't Catholics go door-to-door evangelizing like the Jehovah's Witnesses? Why do Jehovah's Witnesses have at least one negative comment about Catholics in their publications? I got a piece of personal mail from my friendly neighborhood JW (I actually answer the door and talk about the Bible with her when she comes to my door), and I can totally see the attraction if someone isn't firm in their faith. Many of the ideas in JW publications make sense (minus the whole thing about "Jesus is really St. Michael the Archangel"). We Catholics throw around the term "New Evangelization" a lot, but are we just "preaching to the choir"? Who from the Catholic Church in the United States is evangelizing, and how? I love my faith and I do talk about it, but I'm often surrounded by people with my same beliefs. Should I be doing more? Should I be heading out with a companion, as the apostles did when Jesus "called to him the Twelve, and began to send them out two by two" (Mk 6:7)*.
I don't have the answers to these questions. Clearly, I need to do some research and have some conversations with others who may be called to more directly evangelize. If you are an active evangelizer, what do you do? How are you received?
